In an interview this month after a UConn practice, she talked of her responsibility to become better and to lead a team ranked first or second in the nation in most preseason polls. “A point guard is a floor general,” she said. “You’ve got to make sure everything goes right and everything goes smoothly. On the floor, you have to be sure the right people make the right shot at the right time. If things go bad, I have to get us out of it.” Things should not often be bad for UConn, which has won 5 of the last 13 national championships and has talent to spare.
