“The thing that helps Kaili when she's on the floor is she's a great passer,” Auriemma said. “Great passers are comfortable on the floor no matter where they are. The better Kaili gets on the floor, the more we're able to use her, the better team we are, believe it or not.” Perhaps it was a strategic benching then? McLaren did not play Feb. 9 at Seton Hall or Feb. 12 against Georgetown. She said she knew prior to both games that she would not play. Auriemma at first described her plight as her having “issues,” but went on to say more recently that he didn't like the fact McLaren seemed to be on “cruise control.”
