Off the radar: Oregon State’s Ashley Allen leads Pac 10 in scoring.
Ashley Allen showed up at Oregon ready to take on the world. All she got were splinters in her butt to show for it. Oregon's patterned system didn't fit her freestyle, creative instincts. In two seasons, she saw limited action in 27 games and took only 34 shots and missed her only 3-pointer. "It hurt Ashley. She was distraught, frustrated," her father said. "She was always a confident, tenacious player who needed to win in everything she did. It wasn't anything Oregon did wrong. She just got caught in the wrong situation." Allen grew up a Pac-10 fan and wanted to stay in the conference. She was comfortable in the state of Oregon and saw Oregon State as perhaps a new start.
