Huskies poised for run at title.
As part of her attempt to keep the atmosphere around the UConn women's basketball team light-hearted and fun, junior captain Renee "NeNe" Montgomery created playful nicknames for almost everyone in the program. The kid who calls her own mother "Snook" also calls her backcourt running mate Ketia Swanier "Boo," refers to associate head coach Chris Dailey as "C-Dizzle" and has respectfully designated head coach Geno Auriemma, "The Godfather." Opposing coaches seem to be taking Montgomery's approach literally, and the procession is something to behold. After each game, the opposing coaches have performed their own rendition of kissing the ring of the Godfather. Some have declared the Huskies a Final Four team already, others have anointed them the favorite to win the national championship, and they all seem sure that UConn is further along than any other team in the country at this juncture.
Women's hoops, and nothin' but the hoops.
