Big Ten season hard on DeHaan: MSU’s 6-9 center struggling with foes’ physical play.

Allyssa DeHaan's personality more closely resembles that of an introverted doctor-in-training than a star basketball player. Which sometimes, with others' grand expectations and all the eyes around the arena focused on her, can present a problem. That's one of the biggest puzzles for first-year Michigan State women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant - getting consistent play from her All-Big Ten sophomore center. "All she can do is be herself," Merchant said. "I think she can elevate her game mentally. I do. But she has to do it in her own way."
