Atlanta's year-long bid for a WNBA franchise is progressing well, the president of the women's pro basketball league said, and the protracted process could wrap up soon. "I would say the indications from all involved parties are very positive," WNBA president Donna Orender said. "But I am not prepared at this point to say anything more conclusive than that." She did offer a hint that the deal needs to close before the end of October: "I would share with you what I said to our teams when we met a week ago — if we're not able to close by Nov. 1, then we probably would not be moving ahead for '08."
