It was 23 years ago on Friday, December 21, 1984, when West Virginia's Georgeann Wells became the first in women's college basketball history to dunk in a game. It wasn't a feat that caught on fast. But coaches around the nation aren't just encouraging the dunk, they're putting it into practice. "I definitely think there are more players who are athletic in the game today. Whether they can dunk or not, doesn't take away from the fact that they are very athletic," former WNBA and U.S. Olympic team star Cynthia Cooper said. "And here's the thing, nowadays, women believe that they can dunk, women believe that they should dunk and they don't believe that it's so far outside of their imagination that they should not even attempt to dunk.
